Fedele 2010

December 1, 2009
On Wednesday, December 2nd, I am kicking off my campaign committee for Governor.  I would appreciate it if you would join me at one of my two events:

11:00am - CBIA Manufacturer's Forum, Cromwell Crowne Plaza, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell

4:00pm - Kick-off Rally, Yerwood Center Gymnasium, 90 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford

As a friend, I want you to know why I am running and to ask for your help.  Your support during these past three years has been invaluable and I look forward to working with you on this campaign.

I am running for Governor because today in Connecticut, we are faced with a defining moment - in our lives and in the lives of our children. Our economy is still troubled.  Families and businesses continue to struggle. Far too many people are still out of work.

The solution to these problems is pro-growth policies that create JOBS. We need to get people back to work, to keep people working and to create new jobs to grow our economy.  We need new jobs, not new taxes.

Our future - and our children's future - is at stake.  Taxes won't make Connecticut prosperous.  Taxes do not create jobs - they cost jobs by taking money out of the pockets of businesses and workers. That is the wrong solution --- and the wrong direction for this state.

I have proudly served for the last three years as Governor Rell's Lieutenant Governor. Governor Rell has led and continues to lead our state with effectiveness and fiscal restraint and she will leave a legacy of public service that will be the benchmark for future governors.

The Democrats vying for their party's nomination have one thing in common: a track record of supporting big government programs at the expense of jobs. And costly new government programs can only be paid for by one thing -- new taxes.

The so-called super majority party in the legislature has been "super" in one way - they have been super advocates for every kind of tax imaginable.

Connecticut must not chase jobs away with punitive new taxes. We need to bring jobs here. We need to put out the welcome mat and say Connecticut is open for business and we want your jobs.

That's what I did as Lieutenant Governor -- and that's what I will do as your Governor.

I'm ready to lead this state back to prosperity. I know how to make Connecticut work.  I know what makes our economy move forward --- and what throws it in reverse. I know how to create jobs because I've done it. I built an information technology company from scratch and over the past 25 years, I have created hundreds of jobs. I have the real life experience that comes from growing a business and meeting a payroll. I have the government experience that comes from serving 10 years in the legislature and 4 years as your Lieutenant Governor.

Some of you may know that I came to this country from Italy with my parents when I was three years old.  My parents came here for the great opportunity America offered.  They crossed the ocean - not so much for themselves -- but because they wanted their children to have a chance to pursue the American Dream.

When I started by business, my father told me that there are two things in life that belong totally to you: your name and your handshake.

Those are the values I held as I built a national information technology firm and those are the values I will bring to work every single day as your Governor.

That's why I believe in a hand up. Yes, jobs are the best way to grow our economy. But jobs also help people earn self-respect. That's why a job has always been the main ingredient of the American Dream.

I have been fortunate enough to live the American Dream -- and I want to make sure the American Dream stays alive and well for all of our children.

Our children's future - and the direction of our state - are at stake in this election.  We need to bring business principles to all of state government.  We need to stop the runaway spending at the State Capitol. We need a smaller government that taxpayers can afford.  We can do it!  But I need your help.

I would also encourage you to call a family member, friend or neighbor and ask them to join you in supporting me by signing up to volunteer or by making a personal contribution to my campaign committee.
Let's get started.

Sincerely,
MCF Sig

Mike
